How to Get Blessings to Flow

How to Get Blessings to Flow
“Noah… did all that God commanded him.”
-GENESIS 6:22 ESV

I spent many years creating and executing my own plans, asking the Lord to bless them. One day I understood that instead of always trying to get the Lord to bless what I wanted to do, it was much simpler to find out what the Lord wanted to bless, and simply do THAT. Instead of trying to get God to come down to my level and do what I wanted, it was far better to come onto the Lord’s ground and do what He wanted.

Great synergy and blessing is released when we simply cooperate with what God has already purposed to do. Heaven backs us up with tremendous power and authority. Instead of trying to make something happen, I simply flow in a current that already exists. The Lord will deny no request that is in agreement with what He Himself has originated.

What Does God Want?

What Does God Want?
“I am the Way.”
JOHN 14:6

What is God after? What does He seek from us? What does He want? First and foremost, He desires a people who will be conformed to the image of His Son, that they may demonstrate the preeminence of Christ in all things. But how does He gain such a people for Himself? The first step is to reveal His Son to us. This is the narrow gate. We cannot begin to walk the narrow path until we have entered the narrow gate
.

Upon entering the narrow gate He begins to change us from the inside out so that it is Christ expressing Himself through us. “Not I, but Christ.” This is the narrow path. This narrow path we call discipleship. It leads us somewhere. A path is not for standing still. It has a destination. Where does the path lead? What is the End? Christ as All in All. That is the End. All things work together according to this supreme purpose, His Purpose.

Stir Up the Life

Stir Up the Life
“Our sufficiency is from God.”
2 CORINTHIANS 3:5

How will He do it? How will He demonstrate the sufficiency of His Life to do everything in your stead? Why, the next time you feel your temper getting out of control, or the person you resent is bothering you, or things are not going right, or you are tempted to quit, decide that instead of reacting the way you always do, you will trust in His Life, then stand back and just see what happens.

If you are a Christian the Life is there, it just has to be stirred up into activity. The things we call temptations, testings, and trials are the very means through which God desires to activate the Life He has placed within you! How else would we be able to rejoice in our afflictions? How else would we be able to count it all joy when we fall into many temptations and trials of faith? Humanly speaking this is impossible! But what is impossible with man is possible with God, and easily achievable when we trust in His Life to do what we cannot do.

I AM

I AM
“When He said to them, ‘I am He,’
they drew back and fell to the ground.”
JOHN 18:6

When they came to arrest the Lord Jesus in the garden, He asked, “Who are you looking for?” And they answered, “Jesus of Nazareth.” He simply said, “I AM.” When they heard this they fell over backwards to the ground. No one can stand before I AM and retain any of their strength. To the ground we will all go, for that ground is holy. Every knee will bow, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

This revealing of Christ is sufficient to bring saint and sinner alike into absolute surrender and submission. Friends and foes alike find themselves at His feet, quite unable to stand before Him. He does not have to raise His voice or call down fire from Heaven or do anything other than simply reveal Himself for Who He is. Every doubting Thomas eventually cries out, “My Lord and My God!” when they finally behold Him.

Stand as a Warrior

Stand as a Warrior

My child, when you feel like the storm rages all around you and all you see is opposition is on every side, remember that I have called you be my warrior and I have equipped you with every ability, and every mighty weapon that can defeat the enemy. Do not be dismayed at what you see in the natural, but remember that with Me at your side, you have all the armies of heaven ready to fight on your behalf.
The enemy may taunt you and endeavour to tear you down, but my child, remember that it is not in your strength or authority that enables you to stand, but it is in mine. The enemy has already been defeated and his main weapon is to convince you that he has any power over you are your circumstances. Do not believe in his lies, but stand boldly in the knowledge that he is powerless against you. For I have made you more than a conqueror, and as you stand in confidence in who I have made you to be, he has no choice but to flee before you.
So gird your loins with the armor and weapons I have given you, and stand boldly as the warrior that I have called you to be and come to the battle as the victor!

His Life Cannot Fail

His Life Cannot Fail
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live,
but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh
I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
GALATIANS 2:20

The Law of Gravity brings objects to the ground. It does not matter to Gravity how large or small the object is. It works the same with acorns as it does with airplanes.

Likewise, I know today that it does not matter if I am called upon to wash dishes, mow the lawn, write an article, preach a message, cast out a demon, love my neighbor, forgive my enemy, or lay down my life. It makes no difference to the Life. It is not I, but Christ, Who does these things. The principle is the same, and the Life cannot fail. If I give up my life, if I give up my self-effort, then He begins to do what I cannot do. This is Christianity.

My Will is Your Goal

My Will is Your Goal

When a runner has a goal to aim towards, they will do whatever it takes to get to that goal. They will persevere and pay whatever price necessary to cross that finish line. They have one thing in mind as they run their race - the goal!
And so, if you just fix your gaze on me my child, and take each step as I show you to take it, you will become like this marathon runner, who no matter what happens, has a laser focus on the goal ahead and just runs. You will take my hand, obey each instruction and run towards that goal.
My will is your goal, and in my eyes, you find my will. So gaze upon me. Run toward me, and give me all you have, says the Lord. I will take you from glory to glory. I will raise you up!
Take my hand and follow me, says the Lord. I love you so deeply and I desire for you to fulfill my will. Make my will your own and run with passion, says the Lord!

Spiritual Arrogance

Spiritual Arrogance
“A dispute arose among them as to which of them would be greatest.”
LUKE 9:46

Peter made a splendid beginning by frankly acknowledging himself as a sinner, and so the Lord took him just as he was and began to disciple him.

After making some progress, however, Peter started to lose touch with himself. He had followed Jesus for three years and enjoyed close fellowship with Him. He had both seen and performed miracles in Jesus’ Name. To all outward appearances he was no longer a “sinful man,” he was a “spiritual man.” Before, Peter considered himself unworthy to be in the presence of Jesus. In just a short period of time you find this “sinful man” arguing along with the other disciples about which one of them will be the greatest!

This ought to show us that there is a deeper death for us to die, and the more “spiritual” we become, the more easily we are deceived by our own spirituality.

The rock that will not roll

The rock that will not roll (Writer’s Opinion)

By Charles Gardner, Special to ASSIST News Service
Terrorists in trainingDONCASTER, UK (ANS – July 20, 2016) -- At a time of great turbulence, when all around is sinking sand, there is a rock of perfect security on which to stand. His name is Jesus. And those who fail to honour Him will stumble. (Isaiah 8.14; Romans 9.33)
In the world of politics, too, there is an “immovable rock” that will injure those nations wishing to move it. (Zechariah 12.3) Could this mean that all who attack Jerusalem – “the city of the Great King” (Matthew 5.35) – will themselves be terrorised?
Best-selling novelist Jack Engelhard seems to think so, saying that the dreadful terror attacks enacted by Islamic fanatics in Paris, Brussels, Istanbul and Nice1 all began in Israel. He said the nations kept telling Israel not to answer with force, but to make peace with them. Yet every such gesture was met with more demands and more terror; and the world refused to figure it out – that it had nothing to do with Israel.
The Jewish state was merely a laboratory for radical Islam who have murdered thousands of Israeli civilians with guns, knives, suicide belts, and now the automobile – reminding us that cars have been used to ram innocent pedestrians to death in Israel on a regular basis since last autumn. And referring to the summit called by French President Hollande to impose peace in Israel, Engelhard asks: “Is he calling for a peace summit with whoever came to Nice to mow down hundreds of celebrants?”2
Also asking questions is evangelist Franklin Graham, son of Billy, who says terrorists continue to attack because the U.S. government refuses to recognize the danger of Islam.3
Even in England, Muslim converts to Christianity require special protection in the face of threats and persecution from their own families.
Yes, the grim spectre of violence stalks the earth like a big black cloud. All this is surely a sign of the imminent return of our Messiah, Yeshua. (Luke 17.26f, Matthew 24.29f) But it’s a time to fasten our seatbelts… I believe the Lord was speaking of these days when he said: “In a little while I will once more shake the heavens and the earth, the sea and the dry land. I will shake all nations, and the desired of all nations will come, and I will fill this house with glory.” (Haggai 2.6f)
And this theme is repeated in the New Testament when, in warning against godlessness and sexual immorality (Heb 12.16) – an apt summary of today’s Britain – the writer to the Child terroristsHebrews reminds us of what happened at the giving of the Law on Mt Sinai when the mountain shook in a terrifying spectacle accompanied by fire. This would happen again, though on a bigger scale, at the end of the age so that what cannot be shaken would remain.
Hold on tight, for we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken. Let’s not buckle under the pressure of worldly wisdom, but press on as we look to Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. (Heb 12.2) May I encourage you to “strengthen your feeble arms and weak knees” (Heb 12.12), a verse I have taken literally, as a result of which it has become a constant source of testimony to the power of God. If I had listened to worldly wisdom, I would have given up running when my knees got painful but instead, inspired by this scripture, I trusted God to heal them. It’s interesting that the very next verse says: “Make level paths for your feet, so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed.”
Now I am able to continue running with perseverance the race marked out for me (Heb 12.1), both physically as well as spiritually.
Jesus said: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.” (Matthew 24.35) He also said that “everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock.” (Matthew 7.24)
Notes
Smaller Attack in Nice1At the risk of being accused of bad taste, it is worth mentioning that the Nice massacre took place on Bastille Day when the French celebrate “freedom” wrought through a revolution in which their royal family were mercilessly executed by guillotine. I am not suggesting that divine vengeance was being visited on the victims in Nice. But there is a sense in which the ruthless, merciless spirit that brought ‘freedom’ to France is still present in the land. I’m not so sure that celebrations are apt for the storming of the Bastille (prison); perhaps France needs to repent for taking the law into their own hands.

Run Into My Arms

Run Into My Arms

There is a time to fight, a time to work hard, a time to rest, and a time to be a child and run into my arms. For now matter how far along you are in your journey with Me, you will forever be my child, my beloved, and the apple of my eye.
It is easy to forget in the toil and work of your daily life that when I see you, I do not see all your accomplishments and your skills or abilities, but I see how my child has grown and I rejoice in who you are becoming each and every day that we walk together.
So do not forget who you are to me and remember to take the time to run into my arms, to be held and to be loved by me. For I love you with a love that is unconditional and is everlasting, and I long to spend time with you, and to hold you close, share my heart with you and to know what is in your heart as well.
So come, spend time in my presence and come into the warmth of my embrace. Let me fill you with my love, my peace and strength so that from this abundance, you can go and pour this love into each and every thing that you do.

Preeminent Victory

Preeminent Victory
“Whatever is born of God overcomes the world.”
1 JOHN 5:4

The Overcomer demonstrates the preeminence of Christ over sin, self, and satan. How is preeminence demonstrated if we are still trying to fight our way to victory? We must stand in victory, not battle for it. If we do fight, we fight FROM victory, not FOR victory. It must be to us an accomplished fact, not a future hope, and just there lies the difference between those who are still waging warfare and those who are quietly resting in Christ and steadily praying His Will into the earth.

Tell her you love her

Tell her you love her

By Rusty Wright, Special to ASSIST News Service
MegKorpi ANSsizeMOUNT HERMON, CA (ANS – July 21, 2016) – Recently, when my wife, Meg Korpi, was dying of cancer, a longtime friend offered some advice that I'm really glad I heeded.
"Hutch" Hutchins told me I should write a tribute, expressing what she's meant to me and how much I love her.  I should frame it, give it to her, and read it to her personally.
Meg was on home hospice care after a three-and-a-half-year struggle with ovarian cancer.  I was her primary caregiver – a demanding, 24/7 responsibility – and was reeling with exhaustion.  But his advice clicked.  I read the tribute to her on May 21, our 16th anniversary.
It had a very positive effect…calming, soothing.  She seemed at peace, contented, with brightened spirits.  It was one of her last lucid days before dying a month later.
Tribute to a rare jewel
Meg was a rare jewel.  In her wedding vows, she had said she wanted me to feel like "the most blessed man alive to be married to" her.  I did.  In this tribute, I told her that in her, God gave me:
  • *  A gorgeous bundle of fun, adventure, character, and faith
  • *  A godly woman who walks closely with Him
  • *  A faithful friend – my very best friend – and companion
  • *  A keen mind to help me think through life's sometimes perplexing issues
  • *  A wise counselor with sound advice at crucial junctures
  • *  A determined spirit to prompt me to reconsider my course when needed
  • *  A sweet lover (Whew!)
  • *  A fun woman, whose sense of humor brings delight.  I love to laugh with you!
MegandRustyweddingday ANSsizeThank you so, so much for loving me unconditionally; for honoring and respecting me; for caring and encouraging; for listening to my heart; for sharing my joys and hurts; for looking out for my interests; for being there through good times and bad; for facing life with me as long as we both shall live.
I love you very much, and am eternally grateful to be your husband.
*     *     *
Lots of laughter
We loved to laugh.  As world travelers, sometimes we laughed about language translation complexities.
60 Minutes television veteran Mike Wallace, speaking through an interpreter, once asked former Russian president Boris Yeltsin if he weren't being a bit "thin skinned" in his sensitivity to media criticism.  The interpreter goofed, telling Yeltsin that Wallace had said, "You are a thick-skinned hippopotamus."
Shortly after we married, a speaker at a Miami meeting I attended told of efforts to translate a biblical love poem into the language of a Kenyan tribe.  The phrase, "Your beauty is like that of the lily," did not connect with the rural East Africans, for whom lilies were mere cattle fodder.  Their culture highly esteemed the cow, not the flower.  On the advice of tribesmen, the translators rendered the romantic phrase: "You are a black cow in a herd of spotted cattle."
The speaker relating this tale suggested I use that compliment on my new bride, without explanation.  Since Meg was returning to California from Philadelphia that evening, I left the cryptic greeting on our home answering machine.  A few hours later, my Miami phone rang.  Her first words:  "And you are a thick-skinned hippopotamus!"
Most important lesson
At her memorial celebration, I presented all this, then briefly noted a conviction we shared deeply, the most important thing I’ve ever learned.  I'm indebted in many ways to my Jewish friends and their heritage for it.
One ancient Hebrew book describes Job, who, despite his slew of troubles, affirmed, "I know that my Redeemer lives."  That gave him hope.
MegandRustyinPetra ANSsizeA skeptic in my youth, I didn't believe my Redeemer lived.  I thought it was a fairy tale.  Then, my first year at Duke, I heard a lecture about Jesus' Resurrection evidences, given by Bob Prall, who later became my mentor.  Jesus was executed and declared dead, wrapped like a mummy, placed in a tomb.  A huge stone covered the tomb's entrance, which Roman soldiers guarded.  Most of his disciples fled in fear.
Sunday morning, the stone was rolled away, the tomb was empty, but the grave clothes were still in place.  Jesus appeared alive.  Frightened disciples became martyrs because they believed he had risen.
Attempts to explain this away didn't work for me.  The guard was too powerful, the stone too heavy, the disciples too timid.  I realized it was true.  Jesus had successfully predicted his own Resurrection.  If I could trust him in areas like this where I could test him, I had grounds for trusting him in areas where I couldn't test him, such as eternal life and how to obtain it.  He said, "I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die."
Comforting?  True?
Is it comforting to me that I'll see Meg again and spend eternity with God?  Absolutely.  But it's only comforting because I believe the evidence indicates it's also true.  If it weren't true, it wouldn't be comforting.
Meg2012surgery ANSsizeI realize this is a controversial subject, and you may not agree.  If you've not examined the Resurrection evidences, may Meg and I gently and politely encourage you to take a look?  Lots of good books and websites present them.  Our own site – which Meg designed and built – also presents them.  www.RustyWright.com
We know our Redeemer lives.  We hope you can as well.
And…I love you, Sweetheart.

My Love Never Fails

My Love Never Fails

No matter what you do, my child, no matter how far you fall, my love for you will never change. I am passionate for you. I want to pursue you and love on you no matter what happens. Even if you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, and experience temptation and difficulty, I am there with you, pursing you with my never-ending, unconditional love.
You are my prized possession. I have given my life so you could live, and no matter what, I would do it over and over again each day. You are so special to me, and I love you with a love that is so real!
I will never leave you, nor forsake you, and I will always be by your side. Take my hand afresh today and allow me to shower you with my love. Allow me to overshadow you with who I am! I love you, and you are precious to me. Run into my arms and rest in me even now, says the Lord.

Radical Repentance

Radical Repentance
“‘The stone which the builders rejected has become
the chief cornerstone,’ and ‘A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense.’”
1 PETER 2:7,8

The people to whom Jesus preached already had their own ideas about what the Messiah would do, and what His Kingdom would look like. Unfortunately those ideas were utterly wrong. So Jesus said they needed to repent: to change their heart, to change their mind, to change their behavior, and to get ready to experience something that went totally against their preconceived ideas and notions.

To enter the Kingdom of God and to know the King around which this Kingdom is organized requires a radical change on many levels. The way you perceive things, the way you relate to things, the way you understand things – all of it has to be changed. At the very least it must be challenged.
