The Potter and The Clay
My child, take a good look at
the clay. It can do nothing, but sit on the potter's wheel. It cannot
make itself into a vessel. It cannot forge itself into a delicate pot
or a sturdy mug. All the work that it can do is remain on that wheel.
It is for the potter to apply
pressure in just the right places, and to press down on just the right
angle, to make it into the vessel that He sees fit. In the same way, my
child, I am that potter that is shaping you. Perhaps right now you
look at yourself and see only a lump of abstract clay. There is no
shape, there is no handle... it is just plain and useless.
Yet, in yourself you cannot make
yourself into something. You have to depend on My hands. All you can
do is remain on that wheel and take the pressure. Embrace every touch
of my fingers and do not jump. Remain there and let my hands apply the
pressure. Whether it be gentle or with a heavy hand, do not jump off.
And then trust in Me, that I will finish the work that I have begun.
As you remain on that wheel, I
promise you, you will look and see that you are no longer just a lump
of clay, but your form will take shape in such a magnificent way. You
will see that my hands have remained on you all along and that yes,
indeed, I know what I am doing. You will smile at me and see that you
are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Trust that you are my vessel and I have the perfect picture of what I
am making you into. I already know what I want you to store and hold
and I will mold you accordingly, that you may be able to contain what I
desire to use you for. So trust in me and stop striving, my child. You
are on the wheel and my hands will indeed, complete the work that I
have begun.
