Your Darkest Night

Consider someone that is in a mining disaster and finds themselves stuck deep underground. It is not possible for them to climb up and the air is thick and suffocating. They cannot see themselves and all feels lost. It is for someone else to come from above the ground and to save them. To reach in and to lift them up out from the darkness.

In the same way, no matter how hard you try, you cannot save yourself from your own sin and failure my child. It is like being buried deep underground with no way out. There is only one hope left and that is to reach out to my hand that is reaching down to you. For only I can save you. Only I can reach down into the darkness and lift you up out of the mire.

This requires faith and not your works my child. For you cannot in yourself move one inch of your sin and failure. You cannot in yourself overcome and cover over your mistakes. Only I can do this and this is why I died for you. My blood alone can cover your mistakes. My blood alone can make right what is wrong. Only I can lift you out of your darkest moments.

So reach out for my hand as it reaches out for you my child. Reach out in faith and see that I am here to catch you and lift you up into the light where things are easier and where you feel free. Grab hold of me as I grab hold of you and you will see that I have been here all along to raise you up in a way you could never raise yourself, says the Lord. Amen.
